We are very excited to get the opportunity to work with our friend, James Vincent McMorrow to help mark the launch of his new album, Grapefruit Season.
James came to visit us at the brewery
James called to the brewery in Newtownmountkennedy to help out with the brewing of the beer.
We had a quick walk around the brewery to show James where and how the beer would be made.
We had a mountain of grapefruits to zest and James offered to help us grate a few!
Once we finished up the brewing of the beer, James and Quincey sat down to have a beer and talk about the harmony between music and beer, as well as James’ creative process behind his new album; Grapefruit Season. Quincey and James discussed the importance of having a sacred space to wind down in, whether that is a physical place or simply listening to some music and enjoying a beer.
Grapefruit Season is a Grapefruit IPA bursting with ripe citrus flavours and a sharp bitterness, this is a beer to celebrate chaos and those little moments of calm in between the chaos.
James’ fifth album sees him push himself (and his sound) in all new ways. Recorded largely before the pandemic struck, it embraces the fact that life is chaos, and the idea of growing up but feeling none the wiser. In James’ own words “Grapefruit Season is about embracing the idea nothing makes sense. None of it is supposed to be linear. Music isn’t some holy grail to a greater meaning, it’s supposed to remove you from where you are for a moment and take you somewhere else”.
Grapefruit Season, available now through Independent off licenses and at the Wicklow Wolf Taproom.
