At Wicklow Wolf, we believe that great beer can do great things. That’s why we’ve teamed up once again with our friends at Brennans Bread to create something truly special; Batch Brew. A light, fruit-forward Pale Ale that’s good for the planet and great in the glass.

When we first discussed brewing a Crossbreed Series collaboration with Brennans, we wanted to brew a beer that is brewed to do good and ‘Batch Brew’ does just that. Made using surplus Brennans Batch White Loaf as a substitute for malted barley, helping combat food waste.

Brewed using Solar Power

Batch Brew was brewed and packaged sustainably using electricity generated by our 120kw of Solar Panels on the roof of the brewery. These solar panels were commissioned by Wicklow Wolf in 2022, furthering our commitment to sustainability in how we brew our beer and in turn how we reduce our impact on the environment. Find out more about our solar panel install here.

ONE TREE PLANTED FOR EVERY TWELVE CANS SOLD

We had a very busy start to the year at our Hop Farm in Roundwood. As part of the Locavore Project and our collaboration with Brennans Bread, we planted over 5,500 native Irish trees across 7 acres of land.

As a B Corp certified company, it’s about making real choices: restoring biodiversity, supporting wildlife, and investing in a more sustainable future. From Oak and Hazel to Scots Pine and Mountain Ash this indigenous Irish woodland will grow into something far bigger than Wicklow Wolf; a thriving ecosystem for generations to come.

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH REWILD WICKLOW

Four years into collaborating with our friends in Brennans Bread, sustainability remains at the core of everything we do. That’s why we’re proud to partner with ReWild Wicklow, helping to plant native Irish woodlands in the Wicklow Mountains, with a contribution from every pack sold.

BREW DAY

On brew day we took in an early morning delivery of surplus Brennans Batch White Loaf. This bread was used as a substitute for malted barley and was introduced to the brewhouse by adding it straight into the mash tun, the first stage of the brewing process.

During this stage, the bread was mixed with grain and hot water which pulls sugars from the bread to create the sugary liquid known as wort. Any leftover grain is placed in a trailer ready for collection by a local farmer to be used as cattle feed, further reducing waste.

When finished its stint in the fermentation vessel, the beer was then transferred to our in house canning line where the cans are filled, labelled and packed into cases to be distributed!

This light, fruit-forward Pale Ale is brewed using Brennans Batch White Loaf, helping to reduce food waste one sip at a time. Expect bright citrus notes, a crisp finish and a subtle bready backbone. A brew that’s good for the planet and great in the glass. Find Batch Brew in all good beer retailers nationwide.

Enjoy, and please drink responsibly.
